Blog Post #4

podcast

The first post I read was the Flat Stanley podacast by Langwitches, I found it a great idea for the students even in such younger grades to do these projects. The students in the podcast made Flat Stanley's and sent them all over the world to their family and friends and were then able to get them back with notes and different things written on them. After the students received their flat Stanley's back they made a podcast with all of the material they got from their friends and family from all over the world. This project not only let the students learn different things from their family but they were able to use different technology to make the podcast where they learned things they probably didn't know about their classmates.
After reading Podcasting with 1st grade, I found it very interesting that these students were so excited to be able to have other people hear their voices on their computer or Ipod's. This was a great project for these students to use technology to make their podcast's. At this age students were very excited to have feedback and comments from other teachers in the school and all over the world. I learned that these projects keep the students excited about using the technology and tech them things that maybe the teacher couldn't make clear.
The last post I read was Benefits of podcasting in the classroom by Joe Dale. In this video I learned that students born after 1980 have not had at least a personal computer or some other technological device in their home, this helps in the classroom when dealing with podcast's. Podcast's help students be creative in their own way. It promotes higher thinking skills of the students when using technology. Overall I think that doing podcast's in a classroom help students broaden their creativity and keep them in tough with their technological side rather than just listening to a teacher tell them the material they can do it on their own.

  1. "... Flat Stanley podacast by Langwitches,..." podcast, not podacast

"...they learned things they probably didn't know about their classmates...." It is impossible to learn things if you knew the. To correct this sentence you jave two choices: 1) remove probably) or 2) substitute previously for probably.

"... Ipod's ... iPods, not Ipod's. There are two mistakes: the capitalization and the misuse of an apostrophe.

"...technology to make their podcast's." No apostrophe!

"...have not had at least a personal computer..." always had, not not had

"...home, this helps..." This starts a sentence (or should) and therefore must be capitalized. The comma then becomes a period.

"... when dealing with podcast's. Podcast's ..." "...Overall I think that doing podcast's..." No apostrophes needed. Why do you think they are needed (or why do you use them)?

You MUST proofread what you write and you must understand how words and sentences are constructed. Consider a trip to the Writing Lab. Soon!

  2. Hey Hailey,

You had some great thoughts about the videos! There were a few mistakes, though. You need to put periods in the correct place, there was no link, correct your apostrophes, and there were a few misspelled words. I think Dr.Strange summed all your mistakes up for you. Other than those mistakes, you did good!
