Peer Editing
When it comes to peer editing most people think it is just grammatical, but after watching "Writing Peer Reviews Top 10 Mistakes" you find out that there are many other ways to peer edit. Giving constructive criticism always helps your fellow classmates because they have normally read it more than once and your peer has only read it once and its easier to find the mistakes. When giving a review I tend to send an email if I see to many errors so that it doesn't seem like you are picking on them, or that it does not become humiliating to them. Although, giving a review helps your peer, there are some ways that become to "picky" rather than constructive.
Technology in Special Education
I didn't realize that technology was such a big part of the special education classes. I believe that it is great for the students to use technology, because it lets them interact with what "normal" students are doing. In the video the students seemed to enjoy it more that they got to used their computers and it became more entertaining for them. When the students get to use technology it helps them interact more, and learn more efficiently because they are doing the work themselves. In the end it helps the teacher as well because it makes it easier for him or her to read their homework as far as handwriting skills. Overall technology makes learning more interactive and entertaining for students and in the end helps them in the long run for more real world things.
How The ipad Works with Students for Autism
In the video the ipad was very helpful with the little boy as far as he was more willing to do work and to learn. As i was looking for an app I came across the Randomizer it helps randomize who you pick on in the classroom. Some students may feel like they are being picked on if they are called on in class so this makes it easier for the teacher to do it at random so everybody gets a chance to be called on. I think this is a great app to be used in the classroom and would be great invesrment for the classroom.
Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts
I believe that Ms. Davis has a very good outlook for her classroom, she has the students in her best interest as far as only a few students will excel with paper and a pencil. I also believe that so many students grow up in a home that is very technological and are used to the ways of the computer so why stop them in the classroom. Using computers in class not only helps them further their education but lets them see what they really know, so many things are done on the computer in this time that it doesn't hurt for them o learn now. I also agree to what Ms. Davis says about letting the students learn but also that they teach her as well. This gives students the ability to teach the class in the way that they learn and possibly be able to relate to the students better. I hope to use this technique in my classroom in the future because i think nit will definitely help this generation of students.
