My Life
My name is Hailey Pope, I'm a sophomore here at South. I chose to go to South to stay close to home, because I am very close to my younger sister. My sister is one of the main reasons I decided to major in Elementary Education, third grade to fourth grade was such a big transformation for her and she struggled a little bit in some of her classes and didn't really receive the proper "teaching" when she was confused about things, so that really made up my mind for me to be there for students when they need help and teach them everything I know. I would love to teach anywhere from kindergarten through fourth grade.I went to public school's here in Mobile and I'm not a big fan of the system so I would love to teach in Baldwin County or even Mississippi. I'm currently a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority here at South, I love spending time with all of my sisters and enjoy doing all of our philanthropic events, especially the dance competitions. I have danced since I was three all the way through high school, where I was member of my high school's dance team. I tend to procrastinate way to much so time management will definitely be tested.
Dr. Pausch
I have never heard anything about Dr. Pausch before, but this video is very useful. I learned to always have a plan even though it will change and to know that it will change. I learned to also have a to do list, it makes it very helpful when you have many things due at once, and it helps to keep them in order. Always start with the biggest thing first and then it just gets easier and not harder.
Hailey,
ReplyDeleteI loved your post. The only thing I would really look at changing instead of saying "give them the proper "teaching.." I would change teaching to proper education. You have lovely grammar, great sense of vocabulary, and sentence structure.
It always amazes me to hear someone say that they are very close to their siblings. Not because all siblings are terrors, but because I was never really close to my own until recently. I adore them now, but when I was younger I couldn't get further from them. I guess all families can be like that isn't that right? I am glad that you are thinking about going to Mississippi to educate young minds. I lived there for only a short while when I was in 9th grade. Then hurricane Katrina came around and I moved to Florida and I felt so behind because the educational systems are so far behind in Mississippi. They would really need a great mind such as yourself.
About being a sorority sister. I never really got the chance to do such a thing, and that's because as my parents have explained "I grew up way to fast." Enjoy every single minute of college, it is only here for so long.
Now lets talk about Pausch. I had no idea who he was at first, but that is what google is for. I googled his name and a lot of videos popped up. After 3 hours of looking through them. I learned a little more about him, such as he is a Professor at a University in Pittsburgh and that he makes these videos in order to better manage your time and to add helpful hints for a smooth running day. He is actually very interesting and fun. I am also a procrastinator, it is a disease that needs to be cure that is for sure! I think that we will be learning how to cure it in EDM 310!!!
